Mark Lawrence's Self Publishing Fantasy BlogOff

Mark Lawrence is a powerhouse in the fantasy genre. All three books in his Broken Empire trilogy (published by Harper Voyager) have either been nominated or won David Gemmell Legend awards, and have also won Barnse and Noble's and Goodreads "Best Fantasy Releases". He's also probably one of the most social-network savvy authors in existence today.

While making a blog post about how self promotion helps sell books, he had the idea to see how relatively obscure self-published books would fare if they got reviewed by some of the top fantasy book bloggers on the internet. That idea blossomed into reality, and he ended up getting more submissions than he had slots open. This challenge has started getting traction in the blogosphere, being talked about on authors blogs, goodreads, and well-known places like Fantasy Faction.

My book made the list.

I will be read by Sarah Chorn of Bookworm Blues. Not only that, but I find myself in the first group of five books she's going to read, so I'm in the unenviable position of knowing right away whether she likes it or hates it, when the whole challenge runs through September.

I'm a nervous wreck.
